DIVE SITES

SiteMap There are many dive sites along the coast between Ras Mohamed National park and Straits of Tiran. Thanks to their location, these 26 places are protected from currents and high waves.

North of Naama Bay (the modern name for the wonderful bay originally called Marsa el-Aat, situated at the outlet of the Wadi el-Aat) there are eight dive spots along a 7 ½ mile stretch of coast. Ras Ghamila, the northern-most, lies almost directly opposite Gordon Reef in the Strait of Tiran; Ras Nasrani is level with the international airport; the others, which are a short distance from one another, are Ras Bob, White Knight, Sharks Bay, Far Garden, Middle Garden and Near Garden (on the northern tip of Naama Bay).

South of Naama bay are nine diving points: Sodfa, Tower, Pinky Wall, Amphoras, Turtle Bay, Paradise, Ras Umm Sid, Temple and Ras Kate the southern-most local dive spot.

Besides their close vicinity to Naama Bay, these dive sites have other features in common. Thanks to their relatively sheltered position, they are protected from strong currents and waves and the fringing reef extends all the way along the coast-line creating the perfect ecosystem for coral growth and fish life.

These dive sites are suitable for divers at all levels. In good conditions you can see many genera of madrepores, innumerable varieties of Alcyonarians and an almost complete range of reef fish: from the small Anthias to the large Napoleon fish (Cheilinus undulatus), and from the multicoloured Butterfly fish to Parrotfish, Orange-striped Triggerfish and Surgeonfish.
